Job description
We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Project Engineer to support a climate change adaptation study. The role will contribute to the assessment, planning, and implementation of resilience strategies addressing climate risks such as sea-level rise, extreme rainfall, flooding, and coastal erosion.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-impact project integrating engineering, sustainability, and climate science in a complex coastal urban environment.
Project Delivery & Engineering Support
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of climate adaptation studies and engineering assessments.
- Support development of engineering solutions for coastal protection, drainage improvement, and flood mitigation.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, drawings, and design documentation.
Climate Risk & Vulnerability Assessment
- Contribute to climate risk assessments, including analysis of:
- Sea-level rise projections
- Coastal inundation
- Storm surge impacts
- Extreme weather scenarios
- Support modelling exercises (hydrological, hydraulic, or coastal).
Data Analysis & Modelling
- Analyse environmental, geospatial, and engineering data to inform design decisions.
- Work with GIS tools and/or numerical models to evaluate adaptation strategies.
- Collaborate with specialists (e.g., climate scientists, coastal engineers, urban planners).
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders.
- Support preparation of presentations and materials for client discussions and workshops.
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
Sustainability & Innovation
- Identify and assess sustainable, nature-based, and hybrid engineering solutions.
- Integrate climate resilience considerations into infrastructure planning.
- Stay updated on industry best practices for climate adaptation and coastal resilience.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s degree in climate science, water engineering, or sustainability (preferred).
Experience
- 2–6 years of relevant experience in:
- Infrastructure or coastal engineering projects
- Flood risk management or drainage design
- Climate adaptation or resilience studies
- Experience in coastal or island environments is an advantage.
