Job description
OVERVIEW
Responsible for ensuring that trucks and trailers are positioned in the appropriate location and that they are maintained and functioning properly, along with handling pick-ups and deliveries as needed utilizing a Class A CDL vehicle.
RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned)
- Make scheduled pick-ups at assigned vendors.
- Act as a relief driver to assist drivers who encounter hours of service issues.
- Perform special deliveries to stores or other events as scheduled.
- Position trucks and trailer at the appropriate dock location.
- Turn on refer units and ensure the units are functioning properly.
- Ensure the cooler and freezer areas of the trailer are at appropriate temperatures prior to products being loaded.
- Hook tractors with assigned trailers.
- Deliver truck to fuel island for re-fueling purposes.
- Run equipment through wash bay and hand polish chromes wheels and bumpers as assigned.
- Maintain daily activity log to reflect positioning, fueling, repairs, etc. by equipment and type.
QUALIFICATIONS
(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)
Education
- High School or GED Required
Experience
- Eligible for interstate driving required / 2 years’ experience and 130,000 verifiable tractor trailer miles required OR successful completion of the Driver Trainee Program
Licenses/Certifications
- Class A CDL / Valid Medical Examiners Certificate (medical card) in accordance with DOT Guidelines required
Tools & Equipment (Other than general office equipment)
- Company Vehicle / onboard computer

- Commute distance must be less than 1 hour and 15 minutes from work location
