Lead the transformation of how patients access care across a nationally recognized academic health system. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity where operational excellence, innovation, and enterprise influence converge to shape the patient experience at scale.

In this role, you will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, overseeing multi-specialty access operations while driving initiatives that directly improve patient flow, provider alignment, and system-wide performance. The Role

This Director-level position is responsible for leading ambulatory access operations across multiple specialties , ensuring patients can efficiently enter and navigate the UVA Health system. You will work in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment , partnering closely with physicians, administrators, and operational leaders to drive measurable improvements.

On a day-to-day basis, you will

Lead and develop layered teams , including managers, supervisors, and frontline leaders, fostering accountability and performance consistency

Oversee enterprise access functions such as

Scheduling operations and template optimization

Referral management

Contact center performance

Capacity management and patient throughput

Use data, analytics, and performance metrics to identify gaps and implement scalable solutions that improve patient access and operational outcomes

Drive change management initiatives tied to new technologies , workflows, and access strategies across multiple service lines

Collaborate with physicians and senior leadership to align operational priorities with clinical needs and system goals

Balance competing priorities across a complex, multi-specialty portfolio , ensuring both local service line success and adherence to enterprise standards

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master’s degree required; a combination of relevant experience and education may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.

Experience: 7+ years of relevant experience, to include 4+ years of formal management experience.

Licensure: None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

The starting base rate for this role is $91,329.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
