ABOUT THE ROLE
Hi, I’m Michèle Kawa, Software Development Manager on Jane’s CARE (Compliance, Audits, and Records Experience) team. I joined Jane in January 2024 as a leader in the clinical group working predominantly with charting and intake forms, and I am very excited to start this team on their new mission to simplify and customize clinical workflows.
Our team works on the systems that help keep clinical data secure, compliant, useful, and easy to understand. That includes supporting audits and regulatory requirements, creating better ways for practitioners to find and use the clinical data they need, and surfacing insights and visualizations that help them give better care. In short, we’re helping reduce the scavenger hunt of information so clinics can spend more time doing what they love: helping people.
I’ve spent much of my career building software in collaborative, user-focused environments, including medical imaging and radiological workflows. I care a lot about building teams where people feel trusted, supported, and safe to experiment and learn. I believe that everyone is different in what they want and need, and I try my best to show up for them in the way that actually works for them. This belief is really what this team is about too. Making sure Jane shows up for clinicians in a way that fits their practice, not the other way around.
We’re hiring an L2 Software Developer to join our team and help shape the future of records experience at Jane. This is a great role for someone who enjoys building thoughtful front-end experiences, working closely with customers and teammates, and bringing clarity to complex workflows. A big part of this role will involve building highly configurable and intuitive interfaces using technologies like React and TypeScript, so we’re especially excited to meet developers who care deeply about usability, accessibility, and crafting experiences that genuinely meet people in their unique day-to-day work and needs.

http://www.linkedin.com/in/michelekawaWHAT IMPACT WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU TO MAKE
- Build thoughtful, customer-led product experiences that help practitioners access and understand important clinical information more easily.
- Contribute to configurable, accessible, and flexible interfaces that support different clinic types, disciplines, and workflows.
- Collaborate closely with teammates, Product, Design, and customers by sharing early, asking good questions, and using feedback to improve the work.
- Help maintain a high bar for privacy, security, compliance, and quality while creating experiences that still feel simple and delightful.
- Keep learning and experimenting with emerging tools, including AI, to support better development workflows, insights, and product experiences.
WHAT EXPERIENCE WE NEED
- A Computer Science or STEM degree, plus approximately 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Software Developer or Software Engineer.
- Experience building modern front-end applications using technologies such as React and TypeScript, with an interest in creating thoughtful, flexible, and user-friendly experiences.
- Experience taking on ambiguously defined projects and crafting experiments and iterations to bring clarity to the solution and implementation with minimal guidance or course correction.
- A commitment to continuous learning and improvement, with interest in growing deeper expertise in areas like accessibility, usability, AI-enabled experiences, or front-end architecture.
- Experience working collaboratively across Product, Design, and Engineering teams, with a customer-focused approach to building software in regulated or detail-oriented environments.
Our development team at Jane primarily works with Ruby on Rails, but we welcome applicants with experience in other OOP languages like Java, C#, Python, and others. We strongly believe that great developers can learn any tech stack, so you’ll have the resources and support needed to ramp up on ours if you haven't worked with it previously. Please don't hesitate to apply!
We know great developers come from all kinds of backgrounds, and we love that. At Jane, we support multiple paths into engineering, including a 3-year internal program that helps our own team members move from non-technical roles into software development. As we support this path internally, for this position we are looking for someone with a Computer Science or STEM degree. It helps us keep our team balanced and support a range of learning journeys.
If you don’t meet every single qualification but are excited about this role, we’d still love to hear from you.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
At Jane, we’re committed to paying fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. This role has an annual salary range of $98,400 to $147,600. While that is a large range, it is intentional. It reflects the full growth journey someone might take in the role, from developing skills early on to becoming highly proficient and ultimately achieving excellence.
Most new hires join at the accomplished stage, which for this role represents an annual salary of $116,900. A starting salary below this typically indicates a candidate with strong potential who is still developing key skills. Salaries above this usually apply to existing team members who have made a significant impact and bring deep Jane-specific knowledge.
We believe in paying for growth. You’ll have regular career development conversations with your manager and your compensation will grow as you gain experience and contribute meaningfully to our mission.
Paying clearly is one of our compensation fundamentals. Watch this https://vimeo.com/880258361 short video to learn how our salary bands are set. You’re also encouraged to ask questions about compensation at any point during the interview process.
