Job description
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the work of electrical, signal, and traction power subcontractors to ensure compliance with contract documents, specifications, and project requirements
- Review subcontractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and work plans for accuracy, completeness, and constructability
- Track and manage project schedule activities related to systems work, identifying and addressing potential delays or conflicts
- Monitor subcontractor progress, productivity, and quality of work
- Assist in cost control efforts, including tracking change orders, reviewing time and material tickets, and supporting estimates for potential changes
- Ensure all work complies with applicable standards, and safety requirements Participate in project meetings with the owner, engineers, and subcontractors
- Support testing and commissioning activities, including coordination of inspections, system integration testing, and final acceptance
- Maintain accurate project documentation
- Identify risks and propose solutions to maintain project performance and minimize impacts
- Helps represent the construction team in project meeting settings
- Makes sound and prudent decisions and recommends course of action, especially when only limited facts are available
- May be tasked with other special duties as assigned by the Project Manager on technical projects (i.e., investigation, analysis, and design) in specific areas of expertise
Skill Requirements
- Railroad construction experience preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical systems, signaling systems, control circuits, and related field installations
- Understanding safety guidelines
- Attention to detail and excellent time management skills
- Analytical and strong problem-solving ability
- The ability to communicate in a professional manner with owner’s representatives, coworkers and direct supervisors
- Ability to complete work under time pressure and to maintain composure under the stress of emergency situations
- Must be able to work well with others
Work Experience Requirements
- Railroad Construction experience is preferred
- Must be able to read and understand construction plans, drawings and specifications
- Experience with civil construction/track work, preferred
- Knowledge of track or general construction, preferred
- Familiar with Microsoft Suites, P6, HCCS and BIM, preferred
- Familiar with Submittal and RFI process
- Understands safety guidelines
Educations Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required
- 4 year college degree in Construction Management/Engineering
- Or, 5+ years of construction experience with 3+ years of managing/supervising work crews
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Work in extreme all-weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow and sleet)
- Able to walk on uneven surfaces over sometimes great distances
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery; bend, walk, stand and sit for extended time
- Exposed to loud noise
- May be exposed to live track/trains and high voltage
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be willing to travel
- May be required to work occasional during weekends
