Job description

Okie Staffing is hiring General Labor Workers / Refuse Helpers for a residential trash collection route. This is a physically demanding outdoor position that requires dependability, stamina, and the ability to work in all weather conditions.

The Refuse Helper will ride on the back of a residential garbage truck and assist with collecting household trash along assigned routes. Candidates must be comfortable working around waste, moving quickly, lifting repeatedly, and following safety procedures.

Job Duties

  • Ride along with the refuse truck on residential routes
  • Pick up and throw household garbage into the truck
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull trash containers as needed
  • Work safely around moving vehicles, equipment, and traffic
  • Communicate with the driver and crew throughout the route
  • Keep pace with the route and complete assigned stops
  • Follow company safety rules and proper lifting procedures
  • Maintain a professional attitude while working in neighborhoods
  • Must be able to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and changing weather
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, push, and pull for long periods
  • Must be dependable and report to work on time
  • Must be comfortable working with residential garbage/refuse
  • Must be able to follow safety instructions
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
  • Previous general labor, construction, landscaping, sanitation, warehouse, or outdoor labor experience is helpful

Weekly Pay average $12-14.00 an hour

Shifts start 5:00/5:30 AM M-F with holidays
