Head of Engineering
Job description
Job Overview ENPULSION is looking for a Head of Engineering (m/f/x) to lead our 16-person Engineering team and report directly to the COO.
In this role, you will define and drive the technical direction of our propulsion systems, lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering organization, and ensure strong execution across the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience in a regulated industry, deep understanding of hardware systems, and a proven track record of guiding engineering teams through complex technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical strategy for our propulsion systems in line with company goals.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering organization across multiple disciplines.
- Build a scalable leadership structure and support team growth through clear goals, feedback, and performance management.
- Guide complex technical decisions and help teams solve cross-disciplinary engineering challenges.
- Oversee the technical direction of product development across the full lifecycle.
- Strengthen engineering processes, project execution, documentation, and configuration management.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements in the space industry.
- Act as the link between engineering and leadership, translating technical topics into business context.
- Foster a culture of accountability, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
Type of contract: Full time position with 38.5 hours/week
Salary: The minimum base monthly salary for this position starts at EUR 4.888,37 gross per month, with a significant planned overpayment depending on your professional experience and qualifications.
Your profile
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
- Track record of successfully leading engineering teams through complex technical challenges.
- Experience in a regulated industry and working with regulatory bodies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience establishing and scaling engineering teams during company growth.
- Ability to balance strategic vision with tactical execution.
- Clear leadership style with strong decision-making, coaching, and resource management skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and technical challenges.
Ideal Skills
- Experience in the space industry.
- Experience with in-space propulsion systems.
- Project Management experience in regulated hardware environments.
