AP/AR Supervisor
Job description
Our client is a rapidly growing consumer products company! They are $100M in revenue, a profitable operation, and a multi-entity structure, they are in the midst of transforming their accounting function. Due to recent expansion, their accounting processes are currently in a startup-like state, requiring a hands-on AP/AR Supervisor to bring structure and efficiency to the team.
About the Role
This newly created AP/AR Supervisor role will oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. The company is currently undergoing an accounting transformation, led by a new Controller and VP of Finance, aiming to streamline operations and drastically reduce the monthly close timeline. The ideal candidate will be process-oriented, have strong leadership skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
•
Oversee and manage the AP and AR functions, supervising 1 AP Clerk (CA) and 2 AR Clerks (China).
•
Implement best practices to improve efficiency, ensuring compliance with GAAP accounting standards.
•
Work closely with the Controller and VP of Finance to establish accruals and strengthen month-end processes.
•
Assist in reducing the current 23-day close to a 2-3 day close.
•
Maintain accurate records of vendor invoices, payments, and collections.
•
Manage vendor relationships, ensuring timely payments and dispute resolution.
•
Oversee customer invoicing and collections to improve cash flow.
•
Support the implementation and optimization of MS Dynamics 365 Business Central (experience with Great Plains is a plus).
•
Prepare AP/AR reports and provide insights on outstanding balances and cash flow.
•
Train and mentor the AP and AR team, ensuring adherence to company policies.
Qualifications
•
5 years of AP/AR experience, including supervisory or managerial experience.
•
Strong knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes.
•
Experience working in consumer products, e-commerce, retail, or startup environments preferred.
•
Proficiency in MS Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP systems (Great Plains experience a plus).
•
Proven ability to optimize processes and improve efficiencies within accounting operations.
•
Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience managing remote teams.
•
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving company needs.
