Job Summary
As a Vehicle Technician, you will work within our production team and be responsible for mechanical modifications, upgrades and integration of specialist equipment for military‑specified vehicles The role involves hands‑on mechanical and electrical upgrades to systems for enhanced durability in challenging environments The role is critical in ensuring that vehicles operate safely and efficiently and involves working closely with engineers to deliver high‑quality conversions This role provides an opportunity to join a dynamic business with personal development possibilities
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Mechanical Installations
Performing mechanical modifications to military type vehicles Installing mechanical fittings and specialist systems Suspension upgrades Wheel upgrades Use of power tools, hand tools and specialised equipment such as workshop machinery and two‑post lifters Ensuring compatibility of integrated systems and performing functional testing after installation Modifying interiors and exteriors to accommodate military equipment or increased payload
Diagnostic, Testing & Quality Assurance
Performing diagnostics on mechanical systems Conducting functionality tests after installation of new systems Inspecting completed systems to ensure compliance with quality systems Staying updated with latest technology in the sector and developments in vehicle electronics
Technical Documentation
Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics and conversion build sheets Maintaining accurate records of installations, materials used and modifications
Safety & Compliance
Following technical safety standards and workplace safety standards in line with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 Adhering to all regulatory and company guidelines
Skills & Qualifications
Qualified to Motor Service & Maintenance Technician Level 3 or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Strong fault‑finding skills and diagnostics Experience working on 4x4 vehicles or commercial fleet modifications Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and continuous improvement Excellent communication skills English language (spoken and some written) desirable
Preferred
Experience with military, defence or specialised vehicle conversions Familiarity with modern vehicle electronic systems Willingness to travel to the UK production facility
