Job description

At AFCA, we’re committed to fairness, transparency and delivering better outcomes for consumers and members. We’re looking for a talented Communications Adviser to join our Strategic Communications team and help bring our messaging to life across multiple channels.

As a Communications Adviser, you’ll play a key role in creating clear, engaging and accessible content that supports AFCA’s strategy and connects with a diverse range of stakeholders. Working collaboratively across the organisation, you’ll help translate complex ideas into meaningful communications that align with our brand, tone and values.

This is initially a 12 month contract at AFCA.

What you’ll be doing

  • Draft, edit and publish content across channels including email, intranet, web, newsletters, presentations and scripts
  • Support communication plans and campaigns aligned to strategic priorities
  • Ensure messaging is consistent, accessible and aligned with AFCA’s tone of voice and visual identity
  • Partner with subject matter experts to turn complex information into clear, engaging content
  • Manage feedback, approvals and production timelines to ensure high-quality outputs are delivered on time
  • Support reporting and measurement of communication effectiveness
  • Contribute to team planning, ideas, continuous improvement initiatives and any other tasks as required

You’re a strong communicator with an eye for detail and a passion for making information clear, inclusive and engaging. You enjoy collaborating with others and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in communications, PR, journalism or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills across a variety of formats
  • Strong interpersonal and proactive relationship-building skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Experience with digital communication tools (e.g. intranet/CMS, email platforms) – desirable
  • A collaborative mindset and a resilient and flexible approach
  • An interest in financial fairness and improving consumer outcomes is highly regarded
