Education
- ARRT registered (ARRT -T) OR satisfactory completion of 24-month course in radiologic technology - ARRT registered (ARRT-R) AND completion of a 12-month course in approved school of radiation therapy technology ARRT registered (ARRT-T)
Experience / Qualifications
- State of Florida - Radiation Therapy and National - ARRT-T.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and make good sound decisions, also possess good hand-eye coordination, be alert and self-motivated and listen intently.
- Experience with ARIA EMR, Varian treatment delivery systems and CyberKknife preferred.
- Able to identify situations requiring attention/improvements, evaluate and make appropriate recommendations, and implement recommendations as approved.
- Able to maintain a consistent workflow and meet deadlines, both routine and non-routine.
- Able to communicate clearly, and professionally both orally and in writing.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Office 365 preferred.
- Position interacts with clinicians, managers, staff and peers to provide clarification and guidance regarding treatment plans and treatment delivery.
Position Summary
Under the direction of Radiation Oncologist, Radiation Physicist and/or Dosimetrist, the radiation therapist will treat cancer and other diseases in patients by administering radiation treatments according to treatment prescription and treatment plan. The radiation therapist must operate within the guidelines of departmental policies and procedures and adhere to all safety guidelines as established by the departmental physicist.
- Performs quality assurance procedures on all radiation treatment/imaging equipment.
- Collaborate with doctors and other clinicians about treatment plan.
- Explains treatment plans to the patient and answer questions about treatment.
- Delivers radiation treatment according to radiation prescription and plan.
- Perform imaging procedures according to radiation prescription and plan.
- Document all treatment information in the EMR system accurately.
- Refer patients to appropriate area(s) for symptom management.
- Follow safety procedures to protect patient, team members and self.
- Ensures current credentials and/or certifications.
- Assist with implementation of new equipment and technology as needed.

Physical Requirements
This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. The team member will need to frequently assist lifting patients and heavy equipment. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, making sound decisions, detail oriented, alert, and self-motivated. Ability to push/pull up to 40lbs, carry and lift up to 50lbs.
