Job Title: Specialty Pharmacy Technician
Department: Infusion Pharmacy
Location: Rochester Regional Health Home Infusion Pharmacy

Hours Per Week: Full-time
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30a-5p
Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician - Specialist assists Pharmacists with pharmaceutical preparation, distribution, and recordkeeping functions in the delivery of pharmaceutical supplies to patients of all ages, in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. The PhT Specialist works in a specialized area of Pharmacy (i.e. IV room, Narcotic Vault, or OR setting) and provides advanced knowledge and experience to that area of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answers and triages telephone calls, referring any drug information questions to the Pharmacist
- Operates computerized data systems.
- Fills and documents medication orders in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Take an advanced role in inventory control including ordering, stock rotation, and return of outdated medications.
- Prepares and delivers unit dose medications.
- Follows written procedures to manufacture compounds (solutions, creams, oral syringes, etc.)
- Manage preparation and delivery of medication primarily in an OR, Narcotic, or IV room setting.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives, safety initiatives and/or helps to identify methods/ideas to improve upon current policies.
- Troubleshoots and repairs ADMs
- During evenings, overnights and weekend/holidays, problem solve any scheduling issues for that shift and works with RPh to problem solve any other issues that arise during the shift
- May be asked to transport medications.
- May be expected to assume lead in all Purchasing functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for routine interaction with inter- and intra-departmental staff, patients, and visitors
- Pursuing additional certifications
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 months of experience within pharmacy service line.
Required Licensure/Certification Skills
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification. If hired on or before December 5, 2021 must register by Feb. 28, 2022.
- NYS OOP Registered Pharmacy Technician. If hired on or before December 5, 2021 must register by June 30, 2022.

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
