Job description
Overview
The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing installation for security and video systems & services. To that end, this individual interacts directly with the client, client representatives, other contractors and Kastle personnel to ensure a successful installation.
Responsibilities
- Responsible to install, supervise, and assist in all phases of installing, testing and troubleshooting security, access control and video systems at customer sites.
- Oversees all aspects of the installation of the system to provide quality system installation, free of defects, to the satisfaction of the customer and within pre-defined standards for profitability;
- Communicates and coordinates with crew, customer contacts, project managers, locksmiths, and scheduler to ensure successful installation
- Responsible for all paperwork required, including but not limited to: inventory transfers, hardware information, floor plans and work order notes;
- Reports status of the system installation accordingly
- System testing with test tool or EPL to ensure system functions and reports per Kastle standards;
- Demonstrates an understanding of the fire code, including the ability to perform fire inspections
- Assists Project Manager with planning, scheduling and coordinating activities within installation to ensure that Kastle system install or change orders are provided accurately and on time, and that these services meet or exceed client expectations.
- Responsible for the behavior and performance of assigned team members.
- Responsible for training, evaluating, and coaching those technicians within their team.
- Responsible for inventory/stockroom of installation parts/equipment.
- Responsible for performing inventory control and for maintaining proper inventory for vehicles and projects. Must be available to perform end of year and interim inventory counts.
- Maintains and cares for Kastle provided vehicles and tools, including paperwork and maintenance records
Qualifications
- 3+ years’ of experience installing access control, video systems, or other related electronic systems
- Technical school certificate a plus but not required
- Mechanical aptitude and thorough knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Strong electronics knowledge/background (AC/DC theory, series and parallel circuits, open/close loops) and ability and knowledge to use digital volt meters.
- Knowledge of Serial Communication (RS232, RS485)
- Basic knowledge of IP, Ethernet, and networking protocol and Cat5 technologies.
- Preffered: Professional construction experience and knowledge of door hardware, electric and mechanical locking devices and building codes pertaining to construction, fire, and electrical systems.
