Job description

About Rivian Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations. Role Summary This role focuses on setting up traction inverter end-of-line tests and supporting the electrical issues related to the production inverters. The role will support various teams, including manufacturing and service, and will be responsible for debugging issues across different company and supplier locations. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and the ability to read schematics are required, while knowledge of power electronics components and hands-on lab experience are preferred. This position is based in either Normal, IL, or Carson, CA, and requires frequent domestic and international travel. Responsibilities Collaborate with a highly capable team to design, develop, and validate cutting-edge traction inverters for Rivian vehicles. Lead the end-to-end testing, characterization, and performance analysis of power electronics circuits, ensuring they meet rigorous design and quality standards. Drive the root cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues from production, working with cross-functional teams to implement robust solutions with a sense of urgency. Provide critical, hands-on engineering support for manufacturing, production line testing, and service teams at our global facilities. Act as a key technical resource during validation and characterization activities at both internal labs and external supplier or customer locations. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is required. A strong foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles, with the ability to proficiently read and interpret electrical schematics and component datasheets. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive and hands-on approach. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment. Preferred qualifications are o Hands-on experience working in a high-voltage laboratory environment using standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and multimeters. Previous experience in the automotive, aerospace, or related industry focused on high-power electronics is a significant plus. Travel Requirement This role requires the willingness and ability to travel frequently, both domestically and internationally. Pay Disclosure We offer a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time and part-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26, including but not limited to paid vacation, paid sick leave, and a competitive portfolio of insurance benefits including life, medical, dental, vision, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance to eligible employees. You may also have the opportunity to participate in Rivian’s 401(k) Plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program if you meet certain eligibility requirements. Full-time employee coverage is effective on their first day of employment. Part-time employee coverage is effective the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
