Job description

Jobs in this group are typically responsible for managing the university’s technology infrastructure and services. They handle system maintenance, support, and cybersecurity to ensure technology resources are reliable and secure.

These roles are responsible for providing hands-on technical support, including the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment for a school, unit or department. They often work in the field, troubleshooting and resolving issues with hardware, networking, and other technical systems.

Individual contributors who provide support to an organization, often in direct service, operational, technical or administrative functions. Spends majority of time in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. Opportunities for progression outside this career stream are typically limited without additional education or significant training and experience.

Fully competent and productive individual contributor. Works under moderate supervision. Problems are typically of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures. Makes minor adjustments to working methods. Communicates information that requires explanation or interpretation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: 2+ years relevant experience required.

Licensure: May require Valid Virginia Driver’s License as specified by position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires sitting and standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/climbing ladders, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive) and walking (distance: 1 – 2 miles/day), Repetitive motion: computer keyboard and driving/traveling. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50-100 lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, infectious disease and dust.

The starting base rate for this role is $21.10 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
