Job Purpose / Role Summary
Are you looking for a high-impact opportunity to drive operational efficiency, expand your professional network, and accelerate your capability development over the next two years?
We are seeking a proactive and results-oriented Labor Scheduler to join our team for a 2-year temporary assignment.
In this role, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient scheduling and placement of production associates into the correct shifts and positions within the site. You will manage associate absences, schedule vacations, and ensure the proper administration of time reporting. Additionally, you will handle contract labor scheduling and balance labor loads during seasonal production peaks and valleys.
This 24-month opportunity is designed for a dynamic problem solver who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing environments, offering deep business exposure, robust skill development, and the unique chance to optimize our workforce planning practices.
Key Responsibilities
Daily & Weekly Labor Scheduling
- Staffing Execution: Create and communicate weekly staffing requirements (including temporary contract staffing) for each operation according to site guidelines in a timely manner.
- Rolling Forecasts: Develop and manage a 3–4 week rolling forecast (i.e., the "frozen zone") to stabilize operational staffing.
- Absence Coverage: Administer the proper replacement of associates into positions created by planned or unplanned absences.
- Holiday Management: Maintain and update holiday pattern forecasts to ensure effective coverage and business continuity during key seasonal events.
- Labor Optimization: Optimize site labor by conducting time studies to identify line-balancing opportunities and seasonal demand alignment.
Systems, Database Management & Reporting
- System Administration: Update and enter data into various internal tracking systems efficiently and accurately.
- Skills & Training Matrix: Track associate position changes and training certifications via the area skills matrix to ensure only qualified personnel are placed in specialized roles.
- Administrative Leadership: Provide proactive office management, including tracking and providing cost center assignments to line managers for Kronos coding, managing employee absences, and verifying step-up pay scales.
- Metrics & Analytics: Run reports and update systems at the appropriate frequency to guarantee all operational data and reporting measures remain accurate.
- Associate Support: Provide training and hands-on assistance to associates utilizing time and attendance tracking tools.
- Data Tools & Modeling: Create integrated database tracking tools for staffing shrinkage patterns (such as vacation, sick leave, and training) to optimize future staffing forecasts. Generate actionable reports using historical data and forecasting results from applicable systems.
Collaborative & Strategic Operations
- Budget Planning: Lead longer-term labor forecasting as an active participant in the annual site budgeting process.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Communicate continually with peers, supervisors, and support groups to maintain an atmosphere that fosters collaboration toward all production objectives.
- Compliance & Safety: Promote, follow, and enforce all EEO/AAP, ADA, Safety & Health, and Worker's Compensation policies, procedures, and related state and federal laws; proactively consult with the People & Organization (HR) department as required.
- Transition & Sustainability: Document scheduling processes and build a sustainable knowledge-transfer plan to be successfully executed prior to the completion of the 24-month assignment.
- Flexibility: Work various shifts, overtime, and weekends as necessary to support site operations. Perform other duties and ad-hoc reporting as requested.
