POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS

  • Provide individualized career counseling and guidance to students and alumni within the Computers, Robotics, Engineering, Automotive, and Manufacturing departments.
  • Actively contribute to the 95% employment outcome for graduates. 
  • Develop and deliver workshops and presentations on resume writing, interview preparation, networking, and job search strategies.
  • Support faculty and advisors with experiential learning opportunities including field trips and industry site visits.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry partners.
  • Help organize employer panels and on-campus events, including Focus Fridays.
  • Serve on Program Advisory Committees.
  • Work with staff and faculty to add career readiness to the curriculum.
  • Stay updated on companies hiring Dunwoody students within Computers, Robotics, Engineering, Automotive, and Manufacturing.
  • Facilitate outreach to current students and alumni regarding employment.
  • Maintain current knowledge of workforce trends, technological advancements, and best practices in career services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week.
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access.
  • Ability to learn new computer programs and database management systems and demonstrate proficiency given adequate training.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically to develop new strategies and goals.
  • Ability to talk on the phone.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, potential employers and/or other external constituents.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts that speak to productivity and effective decision-making.  Ability to read and interpret charts, graphs and other visually-presented data.  Ability to work within stated budget requirements; be fiscally responsible.
  • While performing the duties of this job, an individual is regularly required to use hands to feel or handle/manipulate objects. Frequently required to sit, lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 25-50 pounds. Must possess good vision and depth perception.  Individual is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Must be able to climb stairs, set up/tear down displays, etc. Work is frequently performed inside, with occasional outdoor duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in career counseling, human resources, education, or a related field; or equivalent experience. 
  • Knowledge in computers, robotics, engineering, automotive, and/or manufacturing fields preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in career services, student advising, or workforce development.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with students, faculty, and industry partners.
  • Knowledge of career development resources, job search strategies, and industry-specific employment practices.
  • Proficient in using career management platforms, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
