Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer – Power Systems Location: Marietta, OH Employment Type: Direct Hire Compensation: Starting at $60,000 annually, with higher compensation available based on experience Position Overview We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development, enhancement, and customization of power distribution and power protection equipment. This role will contribute to product design, prototype development, engineering documentation, and continuous product improvement while collaborating with multiple departments throughout the organization. The successful candidate will work on products such as switchboards, power distribution units (PDUs), and power panels while helping deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet customer requirements and manufacturing needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and document mechanical components and assemblies for power distribution and electrical equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, supply chain, and service teams to deliver high-quality products on schedule
  • Participate in design reviews and implement feedback to improve product performance and manufacturability
  • Develop mechanical prototypes, support fabrication activities, and drive design improvements based on testing results
  • Independently manage smaller engineering projects from concept through release
  • Partner with multiple departments to ensure products meet customer expectations and manufacturing requirements
  • Support product customization, engineering change notices (ECNs), product lifecycle management, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation and engineering drawings

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant mechanical design experience
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing power distribution or electrical enclosure products
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using SolidWorks CAD software, including thermal and structural evaluations
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail drawings, assembly drawings, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
  • Familiarity with UL and IEC electrical safety standards
  • Experience with Switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), UL 891, or UL 508 control panels
  • Technical writing experience
  • Experience designing or supporting test fixtures
