Job description
We're hiring a graduate data scientist to join a small, high-performing team to accelerate analytics on a tier one portfolio across Australia's independent grocery channel. This is a 4-day role — deliberately designed to match the workload, not squeezed from 5. The fifth day is yours — extend your studies, invest in your own development and/or enjoy the work/life balance.
What You'll Do
You'll be paired with a senior account manager and work across the same categories they own. Your role has two sides:
Drive the Analytics
- Produce monthly Promo ROI analysis — actual vs. expected, baseline impact, rate of sale
- Run pre-promo analysis: expected uplift, margin impact, cannibalisation risk
- Support range reviews with scan performance data (Circana/IRI)
- Prepare field briefing materials and cycle priorities
- Build dashboards and automated reporting — if you can see a better way to present the data, build it
What We're Looking For
- Recent graduate — data science, analytics, commerce, economics, or quantitative discipline
- Strong Excel skills and genuine curiosity about data — Python, Power BI, SQL, or similar is a bonus, not a requirement
- Interest in how data drives commercial decisions — not just modelling in isolation
- Commercially curious — you want to understand why an investment worked, not just that it did or didn’t
- Self-driven — you manage your workload with discipline and minimal supervision
- Clear communicator — you can translate data into a story that a buyer or a sales rep can act on
Why TCCD?
- 4-day week — structured to match the workload, not compressed from 5. The fifth day is yours
- $80,000 package inclusive of superannuation
- Tier-1 brands — world-class commercial development and credibility on your CV from day one
- Flat structure — direct access to the CEO, NBM, and senior leadership. Your ideas are heard, your contributions are visible, your impact is measurable
- Mentoring, not managing — leadership with 100+ years of combined FMCG experience is accessible and invested in your growth. You won't be left to figure it out alone
- Real commercial ownership —genuine analytics, not just reports. You will sit in buyer meetings, present data, and defend recommendations
- Data science runway — you'll work with Circana/IRI scan data, promotional ROI models, and real commercial datasets. If you want to build predictive models, automate reporting, or develop dashboards — bring it. We'll back you
- PURPLE values — Partnership, Unity, Results, Positivity, Laughter, Excellence. These aren't on a poster — they're in our quarterly awards, our daily conversations, and the way we work
- Walsh Bay offices — daily barista, breakfast, and end-of-trip facilities
- Career progression — exposure and development through skill development and experiences
Who This Role Suits
This role is designed for a graduate who wants more than a grad program:
- A data science or analytics graduate who wants to apply their skills to real commercial problems
- A commerce graduate who is curious about data and wants to build analytical skills alongside commercial experience
- A postgrad student who wants real ownership and a day to continue their studies
- Someone who wants to learn FMCG from the inside — promotional mechanics, trade spend, buyer negotiations, category management — with data as their lens
- Someone who values autonomy, ownership, and direct access to leadership over a big-company grad program
How to Apply
Include your CV and a brief note on why this role suits you. We're looking for the right person, not just the right CV.
TCCD — Real ownership. Real Relationships. A team that wins together.
