Research topics include computational physics, functional imaging, AI and machine learning, computer vision, multi-lesion SRS, alpha- and beta-particle microdosimetry, and physics-led clinical trials. The group has active collaborations with the Jefferson physician faculty, on-going national and international research projects, and is part of the NCI Quantitative Imaging Network. The candidate will have opportunities to join existing funded projects, develop independent research, and collaborate across the cancer center.

Positional overview

We are recruiting for a Medical Physics Faculty position with clinical responsibilities shared between the Cherry Hill/Washington Township locations (4 physicists) and the Center City Philadelphia campus (13 physicists) location. This structure provides the opportunity to participate in the academic and research environment while also contributing to high-quality clinical physics practice at Jefferson’s regional sites. The Cherry Hill and Washington Township locations are approximately a 20-30 minute drive from the Center City Philadelphia campus supporting close clinical collaboration across sites. The successful candidate will be expected to perform peer-reviewed research, participate in standard Medical Physics tasks and lead commissioning projects, contribute to a specialty program (SRS, brachytherapy, MRI-Linac), and teach the Medical Physics and Radiation Oncology residents. Dedicated research/project time will be provided.

A PhD in Medical Physics is required for this position. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, have a strong ambition to perform impactful research, be rigorous in their clinical work, and be enthusiastic about participating in educational programs. We encourage 2027 resident graduates as well as more experienced physicists to apply. A formal clinical and research mentorship plan is in place.
