The role
Reporting to the Sales Manager based in Hamilton, you will manage and develop effective customer relationships across the Hamilton area, creating sustainable value-add opportunities. You will work across all aspects of the sales process from the tender stage through to negotiating prices and contracts.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of the development and management of existing customer accounts
- Acquiring new business within the small business and commercial markets
- Maximizing profitability and achieving sales targets through proactive sales initiatives
- Working autonomously to develop existing markets and pursue new business opportunities
- Identifying and delivering tailored solutions to expand market share within the current customer base
- Providing exceptional service to foster and maintain long-term client relationships
- Playing a key role in ensuring service excellence and supporting clients in achieving their sustainability goals
Each day can be different from working closely with a business owner to working on a tender document, your ability to identify opportunities to add value, gain Share of Wallet or introduce a new customer to WM will help you to be the business partner of choice for waste in the Hamilton region. You will be a team player with a natural ability to work well with others. An interest in sustainability and our environment along with a desire to do what’s right both in the short term and long term will hold you in good stead.
Tools of the trade such as a Fully Electric Vehicle (EV), laptop and mobile phone are provided. In addition to the base salary, we provide Sales Performance Incentives (SPI) that is awarded based on the achievement of targets and overall performance.
About you
You’re motivated, realistic and self-sufficient. You are a natural at building strong relationships to ensure you deliver on targets and drive the region’s sales. You are a confident self-starter who will be perfectly at ease working alone in the region, happy to do whatever is necessary to ensure our customer’s high standards of service delivery are met. To succeed in this role, you will have excellent time management and organisational skills.
Ideally, you possess a successful track record in sales, account management, and procurement, demonstrating a strong understanding of market dynamics and client needs. Equally important is your ability to cultivate and maintain long-term relationships, coupled with a high degree of self-management and a personal drive to consistently achieve and exceed performance targets. An understanding of the construction market and the civil / building industry would be a great advantage.
