Focus of the role:
An influential leadership role combines strategic FP&A leadership with commercial partnering, influencing enterprise-level decisions and delivering sustainable financial outcomes aligned with Telstra’s CF30 strategy. The Financial Management Product Owner – Principal is accountable for:
Telstra Digital Infrastructure (TDI) FPA
Primary responsibility for owning and driving financial performance, planning, and insight across the TDI portfolio, including end-to-end stewardship of P&L, Cash EBIT and Balance Sheet outcomes. The role connects strategy, execution and financial outcomes, ensuring strong financial discipline, high-quality insights, and clear articulation of risks and opportunities to senior leadership. TDI is significant segment for Telstra with Gross Contribution Margin of $5b+, Opex/Capex/Lease ~$2.8b, Cash EBIT $2.2b+ from operations across Domestic & International Digital Infrastructure, Amplitel Towers, Wholesales Mobiles and Field Services Group delivery capability.
Telstra Wholesale Mobiles Financial Business Partner (FBP)
Accountable for financial performance, customer and product level planning, and commercial leadership of the Wholesale Mobile portfolio, including ownership of P&L outcomes, and strategic decision support. The role partners closely with product and commercial leads to shape commercial outcomes and long-term portfolio value. This role also plays a part in supporting Mobiles multi-brand.

What You’ll Do
Financial Strategy
- Shape the short-and-long term financial plans and strategy for Telstra Digital Infrastructure aligned to our financial ambition
- Develop scenario modelling including 10-year Financial Models across all financial dimensions and product, asset, segment views ingesting inputs from Finance Partnering & Strategy teams
- Translate TDI strategy into clear financial outcomes and targets
Financial Planning & Governance
- Lead top-down and bottom-up financial planning across TDI
- Own TDI Outlook, Forecast and Corporate Plan submissions, aligned to Group requirements
- Ensure governance and integrity of financial plans, cost centres, product and segment views.
- Coordinate closely with planning and performance teams and TDI finance PO teams
Business Performance Update & Executive Insights
- Lead and Prepare MBR materials on behalf of TDI – this will be combination of generating materials, presenting materials and orchestrating inputs from across the team that met the direction and expected outcomes from the forum agenda
- Own and deliver the Business Performance updates for TDI SLT including actionable insight and probing on topics of interest to improve financial and non-financial outcomes
- Provide clear and actionable commentary on performance, trends, risks and opportunities
- Facilitate ongoing assessment of financial risks, upsides and mitigations
- Drive consistency, clarity and insight across TDI Finance reporting.
Half Year & Full Year
- Develop and own key TDI narratives for Half-Year and Full-Year Results
- Prepare deep dive materials, External results reporting for CEO, CFO and Group Executive
- Collaborate and partner with Investor Relations, Group FP&A and Financial Control.
Wholesale Mobiles Finance Partnering
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and performance management focused on Revenue, GCM, volumes and collaborate on portfolio-relevant cost decision
- Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to optimise performance and decision-making
- Act as a trusted advisor to Wholesale Mobiles Executive and business leaders, delivering commercial insights that drive better outcomes across the portfolio including ensuring the right level of financial ambition to meet our strategy and enterprise targets
- Manage EBITDA and Cash EBIT performance from T-Profit reporting focused on opex pools and ensuring sustainable financial growth – recommend actions to improve performance
Leadership & Capability
- Lead and develop an Agile FP&A mission across Australia and offshore
- Role-model Telstra’s values and ways of working across Finance
- Build strong, trusted relationships across TDI and Group Finance
- Lift insight quality, efficiency and commercial impact of TDI FP&A

About You
This role is differentiated from other roles in Finance by the scale of the portfolio, and the breadth and complexity of the stakeholder landscape and the issues to be addressed. To be successful in this role, we are looking for expertise in the following areas:
- Deep expertise in financial management, commercial analysis, and product finance.
- Proven ability to manage complex P&L and deliver sustainable financial outcomes across multiple portfolios.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at executive level.
- Experience in translating strategic goals into operational plans.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with proficiency in financial modelling and scenario planning. Proven track record of intellectual curiosity and push for insight.
- Demonstrated history of collaborating across business lines and achieving outcomes without formal authority.
- Excellent written communication skills for executive and board-level reporting - contextualising and framing the work for the audience.
- As a leader of work, ability to inspire and energise the team, and lifting the team’s capabilities. Applying and role-modelling a standard of excellence in developing and communicating insights.
- Relevant qualifications in Finance, Business, or Accounting (CA/CPA preferred).
