Join the Twelfth Judicial Circuit as an Administrative Specialist II in Court Administration and play an important role in supporting the daily operations of Sarasota County’s court system. About the Position
As our Administrative Specialist, you will help support the efficient and safe operation of courtrooms and court programs throughout Sarasota County. This role serves as a key liaison to the Clerk of Court, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, and General Services staff while assisting the public, coordinating deliveries, and providing backup support for South County operations.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following...
Provide clerical and administrative support for Court Administration, including answering phones, assisting visitors, and directing inquiries appropriately.
Coordinate meeting and deposition room reservations, process incoming mail, and manage supply deliveries.
Serve as the liaison with Sarasota County Facilities and the Sheriff’s Office for facility needs, maintenance requests, and courthouse operations.
Communicate daily court schedules and schedule changes to judicial security, court staff, and related partners.
Monitor courtroom operations and coordinate adjustments as needed, including room changes, equipment issues, and scheduling accommodations.
Maintain duty judge and weekend first-appearance schedules, including coordinating coverage when needed.
Support special projects and oversee application processes requiring background review and CJIS compliance, including Certified Process Server and Judicial Center ID applications.
About the Schedule
Work Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (no weekends!)

About You
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years of clerical and computer experience.
OR: 2+ years of college coursework in Business from an accredited College or University. (30 college credits are considered equivalent to 1 year of college.)
Valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 3+ years of experience in business administration, office skills, or a related field (preferred).
Basic knowledge of the legal system, court operations, and judicial processes.
Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with court staff, partner agencies, legal professionals, and the public, while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting, proofreading, and editing correspondence and reports with strong grammar and attention to detail.
Please note that, if selected, you will be required to obtain certification by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) as a Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center (FCIC/NCIC) operator within 6 months of appointment. This certificate is tracked independently by the department during your 6-month review. (We can help with this!)
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of 5 years.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.
CJIS Clearance: The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as part of the hiring process.
About Everything Else
Starting Pay: $22.94/hr
