Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Senior IT Application Specialist who will evaluate, select, and implement AI-driven solutions to design, configure and maintain Geotab's IT application systems. This role leads and shapes the strategic roadmap for complex application portfolios with high autonomy, acts as the primary SME, and mentors team members to raise the team's overall AI and application maturity. If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As a Senior IT Application Specialist your key area of responsibility will be evaluating, selecting, and implementing AI-driven solutions to design, configure, and maintain Geotab's IT application systems, while leading and shaping the strategic roadmap for complex application portfolios with high autonomy. You will need to work closely with business owners, management, and various cross-functional technical teams to manage expectations, troubleshoot issues, and identify improvement opportunities. To be successful in this role you will be a strong team-player with an entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable in a flat organization, possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills, and capable of leading through technical influence to build consensus without formal authority. In addition, the successful candidate will have deep practical expertise across the enterprise technology stack, a proven track record of deploying AI-powered automation in production, and the ability to architect technical strategy from roadmap definition through deployment in ambiguous problem spaces.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Use AI to write, review, and orchestrate code daily using tools such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Gemini CLI — expected to demonstrate advanced proficiency

  • Evaluate and select AI tools, frameworks, and platforms for team adoption, assessing business fit, security, and scalability

  • Own end-to-end design, planning, execution and testing for projects, enhancements, and break/fix issues across enterprise applications

  • Build and deploy advanced workflow automations using LLM APIs, orchestration frameworks, and platforms such as GCP Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda, and n8n

  • Design and implement AI agent skills, tool integrations, and autonomous workflows with production-grade governance

  • Design, configure, implement and maintain applications and service requirements while researching and establishing best practices

  • Perform daily health checks to detect issues and minimize downtime, driving automation of health monitoring across the team

  • Performance tuning by identifying ways to maximize the potential and ensure high availability of applications

  • Analyze new functionality in application releases to determine how it should be used and identify AI-driven enhancements

  • Plan, coordinate and test upgrades for enterprise applications, ensuring systems operate correctly in current and future environments

  • Work closely with business owners to understand business needs, manage expectations, and identify improvement opportunities

  • Establish relationships with various teams to troubleshoot issues and develop long-term solutions effectively

  • Identify and resolve highly complex production problems for supported applications using AI-assisted troubleshooting

  • Lead and ensure in-depth analysis of problems, initiate corrective actions and implement preventative measures

  • Deploy and manage AIOps monitoring for predictive detection, automated anomaly identification, and AI-driven incident response

  • Architect technical strategy for critical applications — from roadmap definition through deployment — often in ambiguous problem spaces

  • Lead problem-solving across the team and adjacent teams, facilitating high-stakes incident response and architectural review sessions

  • Mentor IT Applications Specialists through knowledge transfer, cross-training, and centralized knowledge management

  • Create and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and knowledge base content, leveraging AI for drafting and knowledge retrieval

  • Provide advice and recommendations to management regarding AI adoption, technology directions, and security policy

  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Required proficiency using AI to write code with a production portfolio; preferred certifications include Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer, Google AI Professional, AWS, Linux+, or AIOps platform certifications.

  • 5 - 8 years of experience in technical, functional, and system support of IT applications, cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), and advanced OS installation/troubleshooting (ChromeOS, Windows, Linux).

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience building and deploying AI-powered automation in production environments, with a preferred background in designing AI agent architectures and governance frameworks.

  • Deep expertise in AI-driven development tools (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI), LLM APIs, and orchestration frameworks (GCP Cloud Functions, AWS Lambda, n8n), alongside strong programming/scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, and Bash.

  • Advanced knowledge of managing Linux-based environments, SSO methodologies (SAML & LDAPS), Zero Trust Architecture, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure automation.

  • Practical experience using intelligent monitoring and incident response frameworks such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, or similar toolsets.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, an entrepreneurial mindset, strong critical thinking for validating AI output, and the ability to mentor team members effectively.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role! Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
