Compensation: $53,000 - $69,000 based on experience and credentials
Location Type: Remote
Position Type: Full Time
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
The Regulatory Compliance Specialist performs risk-based regulatory, target, policy and process compliance transaction testing for the purpose of independently validating business line adherence to applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and identifying control deficiencies and the risk implications. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will facilitate data collection, conduct data reviews and work with the Regulatory Compliance Advisors to ensure accurate document requests, system access and regulatory information is obtained.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with Regulatory Compliance Advisors to gather and organize data necessary for Compliance testing
- Performs risk-based Regulatory Compliance Testing, which includes target testing, policy and process testing for the purpose of independently validating business line adherence to applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures and identifying control deficiencies and the risk implications
- Assists in the development and execution of Testing Programs to evaluate Compliance of processes within business units
- Assists the Compliance team by testing new processes after new or updated compliance requirements have been put in place
- Identifies control deficiencies, evaluate their risks implications, and draw the appropriate conclusions to best communicate with the lines of business
- Updates and maintains the Compliance Testing calendar with required information to ensure it is accurate and current, based on Testing Methodology
- Selects, analyzes, and drafts applicable Compliance information to appropriate management and operating units
- Conducts final acceptance testing of all new products and services in which regulatory requirements exist
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of credit union software systems in order to understand operational functionalities and impact of potential changes
- Prepares written and oral analyses, reports and other communications for the compliance advisors, management and operating units
- Evaluates, selects, and maintains resources and materials for the compliance library
- Emphasizes compliance with regular contacts throughout the organization
- Performs other work-related duties and special projects as assigned
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting the area of expertise
- Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
- Complete annual compliance and info security training to understand employees' role in maintaining effective compliance and security programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements.)
- 2 or more years progressively responsible work experience in the financial services industry, to include experience in Compliance, Auditing or Risk Management
- Proficient with Data Collection and reviewing processes
- Ability to prioritize tasks by effectively managing competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
- Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
- Ability to analyze and resolve difficult and often complex problems or situations
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
- Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
- Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties
