Raymarine is a leader in the Marine Electronics industry. We design and manufacture cutting-edge products across a wide range of technologies, including Radar, Sonar, Cameras, Chart Plotters and Instruments, serving leisure, first responder and commercial markets.
As a Summer Student Placement Software Engineer, you will gain hands-on experience working within one of our engineering teams, supporting the development of innovative products and technologies. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, reliable software while developing your technical and professional skills.
During your placement, you will be exposed to different stages of the product development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams such as hardware and mechanical engineering to help deliver integrated solutions for our customers.

- Support the development of software for our products, contributing to well-defined features or improvements.
- Assist with testing and debugging activities, helping to identify and resolve issues.
- Work on small, scoped tasks such as scripting, test automation, or documentation improvements.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers, learning best practices in software design and development.
- Gain exposure to embedded systems, application software, and real-world engineering processes.
- Work within an agile team environment.
To be successful in this role, we would love if you have
Currently studying towards a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
An understanding of programming fundamentals, ideally with some exposure to C/C++, Python, or similar languages.
A genuine interest in software engineering and technology.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
A willingness to learn, ask questions, and take on feedback.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Availability to work on site during the placement period.
