As the Lead ECM Development Engineer, you will be the process owner responsible for leading ECM roadmap actions, qualifying and optimizing processes, and sustaining high-yield, safe, and cost-effective production.You will work closely with senior engineers and lead cross-functional teams to drive project execution. As well as, mentor engineers, technicians, and co-ops, driving safety and quality compliance, to deliver measurable improvements in capability and throughput.

Job Description
What impact you’ll make As a member of the Engineering team, you will lead the ECM value stream—setting technical direction, owning critical process metrics, and ensuring safe, stable, and scalable operations. Your leadership will translate business needs into process capability, equipment strategy, and daily execution, while developing the team’s technical depth and experience.
What you’ll do
- Lead NPI Project Management: Manage the end-to-end New Product Introduction process for ECM applications, from initial concept and feasibility studies to process qualification and full-scale production handover.
- Process Optimization: Lead process development and refinement, including parameter windows, cathode design, and feed strategies; use advanced DOE and data analytics to drive stability, capability, and throughput.
- Troubleshooting and Quality: Lead Nonconformance Report (NCR) resolution; drive structured Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA/8D) and institutionalize preventive measures to minimize scrap and rework.
- Equipment Strategy & Reliability: Define equipment strategy; oversee FAT/SAT, installation, and commissioning. Partner closely with the Maintenance team to drive system safety, equipment reliability, and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Safety Consulting: Act as a technical consultant for safety-related control logic; advise on and validate the implementation of PLC-based safety improvements and hardware interlocks to enhance machine safety and operator protection.
- Standardization: Author and maintain standard work, process instructions, and control plans to ensure consistency across all shifts.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Facilitate communication and execution across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain. Manage project schedules, risk registers, and stakeholder alignment.
- Vendor Interface: Act as the primary technical interface with external vendors and partners to evaluate and integrate new ECM technology developments and hardware enhancements.
- Mentorship: Coach and provide day-to-day technical direction to junior engineers and technicians, and provide structured mentorship to engineering co-ops, fostering their technical and professional growth.
- Innovation: Stay current on electrochemical machining advancements and industry best practices; identify, evaluate, and implement external innovations to maintain a competitive advantage.
What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 6 years of ECM experience in a manufacturing setting, including demonstrated application of PLC programs to improve safety.
- Advanced proficiency with statistical methods and Design of Experiments (DOE) / Statistical Process Control (SPC); ability to set capability targets and deliver measurable improvements.
Eligibility Requirements:
- This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
- This is a 100% onsite position.
- Intermittent travel approximately 1-2 times a month to other sites as needed.
- Must be able to work occasional off-shift/weekend support as required.
What will make you stand out
- Hands-on experience with electrochemical machining (ECM/STEM) strongly preferred; ability to lead process qualification and scale-up.
- Strong ability to anticipate issues, remove roadblocks, and drive closure while keeping stakeholders aligned.
- Lean/Six Sigma credentials (Green Belt preferred; Black Belt a plus) with demonstrated DOE/statistical tool proficiency (e.g., Minitab/JMP).
- Innovative, hands-on leader who elevates team capability and drives shop-floor results.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and mentor others.
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple initiatives in a fast-paced production environment.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,000.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
