ABOUT THE ROLE

Techno is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager to support a major regional transportation infrastructure program within an active construction environment.

This role will focus on environmental permitting, field inspections, regulatory compliance, and construction oversight to ensure all activities align with environmental requirements, project specifications, and applicable regulations.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of environmental compliance within large public infrastructure programs and will serve as a key liaison between construction teams, project leadership, and environmental stakeholders.

This position will support activities throughout New York City and New Jersey. Candidates should be comfortable traveling between project sites, stakeholder meetings, and field locations as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Perform field audits of environmental documentation and active construction activities.
  • Review construction work plans to ensure compliance with environmental permitting requirements and project specifications.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting environmental compliance activities and field observations.
  • Identify inconsistencies, risks, and compliance concerns and communicate findings to project leadership.
  • Monitor construction activities to verify adherence to environmental requirements and approved procedures.
  • Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to address environmental issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support environmental permitting efforts and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Review scientific data, technical specifications, and environmental documentation.
  • Participate in field inspections, coordination meetings, and planning sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting in accordance with project requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote environmental stewardship throughout project execution.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience performing environmental compliance inspections on active construction projects.
  • Experience supporting large public infrastructure or transportation programs is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of environmental permitting requirements and construction compliance procedures.
  • Excellent technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret scientific data, environmental reports, and technical specifications.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and current refreshers are highly desirable.
  • Prior experience supporting environmental inspections for NY, NJ, or NYC agencies is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting large public transportation agencies is required.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting Amtrak, NJ Transit, MTA, PANYNJ, or comparable transportation organizations.

The expected salary range for this role in New Jersey is $80 - $110 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
