ABOUT THE ROLE
Techno is seeking an Office Engineer to support a major transportation infrastructure program within New York City.
This role will serve as a key member of the project team, supporting project controls, document management, field coordination, and construction administration efforts throughout project execution.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in fast-paced environments that require coordination between contractors, engineers, inspectors, project managers, and agency stakeholders.
This position will be based in our New York City office and will support activities associated with active construction operations throughout the project area.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Support day-to-day construction administration and project coordination activities.
- Maintain and manage project documentation, logs, and records in accordance with project requirements.
- Assist with the review and tracking of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contractor correspondence.
- Coordinate with project managers, resident engineers, inspectors, contractors, and agency stakeholders.
- Prepare meeting agendas, meeting minutes, and progress reports.
- Monitor project schedules and support project controls activities.
- Track project deliverables and assist with document distribution and version control.
- Support field teams by coordinating project information and facilitating communication between office and field personnel.
- Review drawings, specifications, and technical documents for consistency and completeness.
- Support project closeout activities, including turnover documentation and final record management.
- Maintain accurate and organized project files in accordance with project procedures and agency requirements.
- Assist with special projects and other coordination efforts as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience supporting transportation, heavy civil, tunnel, rail, or infrastructure construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation, project controls, and construction administration processes.
- Experience supporting RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project reporting.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience using document management and project management platforms is highly desirable.
- Experience working within active transportation or construction environments is preferred.
- Prior experience supporting large public transportation agencies is required.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience supporting PANYNJ, MTA, NJ Transit, Amtrak, or comparable public transportation organizations.

The expected salary range for this role in New Jersey is $50 - $90 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
