LOCATION: Open to candidates to report to our Memphis, TN or Farmers Branch, TX headquarters.
TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS: 15-20% travel may be required based on business needs, events, and seasonal support activities. Some overnight travel may be expected.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
As a member of the Human Resources team, the HR Generalist supports the Varsity Spirit Varsity Performing Arts (VPA) and Studio Dance business functions through day-to-day HR partnership, employee support, recruiting coordination, onboarding, employee relations, and HR process execution. This role partners closely with leaders and employees across VPA and Studio Dance to help ensure a positive employee experience while supporting operational and seasonal workforce needs.
The HR Generalist will provide guidance on HR policies and procedures, assist with performance management and employee relations matters, support recruiting and onboarding activities, and contribute to HR initiatives that support business objectives. This role reports to the Sr. HR Business Partner – Varsity Spirit and works collaboratively with the broader HR and People teams.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Support the employee lifecycle for full-time and seasonal employees within Varsity Performing Arts and Studio Dance, including recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, development, and offboarding
- Partner with leaders to support hiring efforts, interview coordination, candidate selection, and onboarding activities
- Assist with workforce planning and staffing support for seasonal and event-based business needs
- Support leaders and employees with day-to-day HR questions related to policies, procedures, performance management, attendance, and employee concerns
- Provide guidance and support during employee relations matters under the direction of the Sr. HR Business Partner, including documentation, investigations, and follow-up actions
- Support performance management processes by assisting managers with goal setting, feedback conversations, and performance documentation
- Partner with leaders to support employee engagement initiatives and team development efforts
- Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding activities to ensure successful employee integration into the business
- Coordinate and process employee data changes accurately and timely within HR systems
- Support exit interview processes and assist in identifying trends related to turnover and employee feedback
- Participate in HR projects and initiatives that support operational improvements and employee experience
- Assist with merger and acquisition integration activities, including employee onboarding, communication support, organizational transitions, policy alignment, and integration of HR processes and programs across newly acquired teams.
- Maintain open communication with employees and managers by answering HR-related questions and explaining policies and procedures
- Partner with Centers of Excellence (People Service Center, Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Benefits, Compensation, Payroll, and other internal partners) to ensure consistent and efficient HR support
- Maintain confidentiality and protect employee and company information in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Maintain awareness of employment laws, HR practices, and company policies to ensure compliance
- Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to support employee relations matters with sound judgment and professionalism
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Workday, UKG/Kronos, or related HRIS systems preferred

Supervisory Responsibility
- This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of Human Resources experience required
- Experience supporting employee relations, recruiting, and performance management preferred
- Experience supporting multi-site, seasonal, or operational teams preferred
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP certification preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and filing cabinets. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing and movement throughout office or event locations may be required.
