Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role, you will lead and develop a team of computational chemists contributing to small molecule and peptide research projects in Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolic Diseases Research.
  • You will help shape the early project portfolio through target and tool assessments as well as active involvement in target identification.
  • In cross-functional teams, you will lead research projects during target validation and lead finding stages.
  • As part of interdisciplinary, international teams, you will design and optimize biologically active compounds and ensure computational tools are fully integrated into molecule design through your scientific expertise and guidance.
  • Furthermore, you will contribute to the strategic direction of the Computational Chemistry group and drive the digital transformation of small molecule drug discovery.

Requirements

  • PhD in chemistry, physics, computer science, mathematics, or related discipline. Alternatively, master´s degree with long-term professional experience
  • Proven track record and long-standing experience in small molecule drug discovery and familiarity with pharmacological and medicinal chemistry concepts
  • Strong experience in target identification, validation, and assessment
  • Excellent knowledge and practical experience with standard computational chemistry software packages in the context of small molecule drug discovery and familiarity with Linux and Python
  • Experience in leading people (teams or projects) in a research context, preferably gained in an industrial drug discovery setting
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and mentoring skills paired with an agile and entrepreneurial mindset
