Job description
Overview The Automation Engineer is responsible for maintaining the plant operational technology (OT) systems. This includes, but is not limited to, SCADA systems, HMI systems, PLCs, and other industrial control systems. The OT Automation Engineer will keep close connection with Global OT team to deliver compliance with Global Automation Standards. Responsibilities 1. Manage and maintain plant automation, instrumentation, and controls OT infrastructure. 2. Troubleshoot and analyses automation related problems. Create permanent solution based on root cause analysis to eliminate plant downtime to a minimum. 3. Develop a detailed understanding of automation systems in the plant including but not limited to Rockwell Logix PLCs (Compact Logix, Control Logix, etc.) PanelView, Wonderware Intouch, Wonderware Historian, SQL database, ASI, EtherNet/IP, FTAC, Power Flex VFDs and any other control systems installed at site. 4. Ensure latest backups and crash recovery procedures are updated and tested to recover any OT assets (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VFDs, Controllers etc) in case of a crash or machine failure. 5. Support any projects (OpEx/CaPex/global/etc.) as automation point of contact during design engineering, development, and commissioning to ensure smooth transaction after project handover. 6. Create and maintain all OT related documentation. Making sure good housekeeping is achieved. 7. Propose & implement minor modifications to systems, equipment, processes, and operations to improve safety, increase efficiency and achieve company goals. 8. Ensure that changes carried out on the automation systems that went through the change control process shall not compromise the safety, environmental or quality aspect. 9. Ensure automation systems comply with regulatory guidelines. Maintain the validated status of production equipment and associated control systems in accordance with company standard, departmental procedures, and SOPs. 10. Ensure automation related critical spares and parts are available for all PLC systems, VFDs and instruments. 11. Work closely with the Global Automation team to deliver compliance with Global Automation Standards. 12. Any other ad hoc tasks / assignment / projects related to OT / Automation as assigned. Qualifications Equipment Operation: Personal Computer Electrical/electronics instruments. Bench-work tools. Education and Training Required by Job Holder: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/related Engineering. Additional qualification / trainings in automation OT would be preferred. Knowledge of SQL, PI Server, Historian, OPC and other server application is preferred. Experience Required by Job Holder: Minimum 5 years of experience as an Automation / Control System Engineer. Preferably in manufacturing plant. Experience in Allen-Bradley PLC & HMI, Wonderware InTouch / System Platform, communication protocols (Ethernet, ASI, Profibus, ControlNet, DeviceNet, Modbus, etc.). Familiarity with general field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow transmitter, etc.). Familiarity with ATEX / Explosion proof standard. Ability to work under pressure as individual and as part of the team to achieve numerous targets. Ability to manage internal and external stakeholder from multiple countries. Strong English written and verbal communication and computer skills required. Creativity for innovation and good learning capability High integrity 1.
