Senior Network Engineer
Salary
Job description
Are you looking to use your network engineering expertise in a role that supports critical services, while giving you exposure to modern hybrid and cloud-connected environments?
Join our Cloud practice as a Senior Network Engineer and play a key role in keeping enterprise networks secure, resilient and performing at scale. You’ll be part of a skilled second-line support team responsible for managing and optimising enterprise network services across complex environments. While this role does not require cloud expertise, you’ll work closely with cloud-aligned teams and technologies, making it a great opportunity to broaden your experience in this space.
The team values collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement, and you’ll be trusted to take ownership of incidents, changes and service quality. You must be prepared to provide out-of-hours support and take part in a structured on-call rotation to ensure continuity of service.
We can offer great career progression opportunities, the ability to be based anywhere across the UK, benefits which you can flex to meet your needs, and training and development opportunities.
What you’ll be doing
- Investigating and resolving complex network and security incidents to maintain service continuity.
- Implementing approved and designed network changes in line with governance, security standards and best practice.
- Monitoring network performance and incident queues, identifying trends and known problem areas.
- Administering enterprise network and security services, including users, Quality of Service and site security.
- Providing second-line support in line with agreed service level agreements.
- Keeping the Team Leader or relevant manager informed of progress across operational work and project activity.
What you’ll bring
- Strong understanding of enterprise networking and security principles, including firewalls, routing and switching, Wide Area Networks, Local Area Networks, telephony, video and WiFi.
- Hands-on experience with at least two enterprise network or security platforms such as Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Juniper, Check Point, F5 ASM or F5 LTM.
- Experience working in a service provider or similarly complex enterprise environment.
- Proven ability to measure, analyse and optimise network and infrastructure performance.
- Experience delivering second-line support within defined service level agreements.
- Relevant industry qualifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate, Cisco Certified Network Professional, Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer, F5 Certified Technology Specialist or Check Point Certified Security Administrator.
It would be great if you had
- Exposure to cloud-connected or hybrid networking environments, working alongside cloud platforms or cloud networking services.
- Confidence communicating progress and outcomes to users in a customer-facing environment.
If you’re interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we’re looking for, please do apply, we’d love to hear from you!
