PIH Health is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our surgical team in Downey, California on a temporary 6-month assignment. This position will provide coverage for a provider leave and support our growing General Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery services.
The selected provider will work closely with our surgeons in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including hospital rounding, clinic support, and first assist responsibilities in the operating room. Schedule and hours will be determined based on surgical and OR needs, with an anticipated 40-hour work week.
This opportunity is ideal for a motivated and collaborative Physician Assistant with strong surgical experience who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care.

Required Skills and Experience
- Assist General and Orthopedic Surgery physicians with inpatient rounding and consults
- Provide surgical first assist support in the operating room
- Evaluate and manage patients pre- and post-operatively
- Conduct histories and physical examinations
- Order and interpret diagnostic testing
- Collaborate with supervising physicians to develop treatment plans
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures and recovery plans
- Coordinate care across inpatient, outpatient, and surgical teams to ensure continuity of care
Required
- Current California Physician Assistant (PA-C) license
- NCCPA certification
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- 3–5 years of Physician Assistant experience
- General Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery first assist experience
- Strong communication, organizational, and clinical skills
Preferred
- Experience in both inpatient and outpatient surgical settings
Compensation Range: $130K-160K Annually
