Position Summary
The JV Accountant will support day-to-day joint venture accounting activities across BTG's asset base, including partner billings, cash calls, AFE tracking, operator/non-operator reconciliations, and JV audit support. This position is based full-time in BTG’s Calgary office and offers an excellent opportunity to build deep expertise in JV accounting while working alongside a seasoned leadership team in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and review join venture filings, cash calls, and partner statements in accordance with PJVA and CAPL guidelines.
- Manage and monitor partner and counterparty balances, including collections follow-up, dispute resolution, and credit exposure management.
- Process and review operator and non-operator JV statements, ensuring accurate cost allocations across working interest partners.
- Assist with monthly close activities including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliation related to gathering, processing, fractionation, and rail loading operations.
- Track Authorization for Expenditures (AFEs) and monitor actual costs against approved budgets for capital and maintenance projects.
- Reconcile JV-related accounts, including partner receivables, payables, and suspense accounts.
- Support capital project accounting, plant cost allocations, and operating expense variance analysis by facility.
- Maintain facility, contract, partner, and ownership master data within the accounting system.
- Assist with GST/HST filings and JV-related tax matters.
- Support internal and external audit request, including JV audits and year-end audit working papers.
- Collaborate with operations, commercial, land, and engineering teams to resolves discrepancies and ensure data integrity.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support ongoing enhancement of JV accounting workflows and reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.
- 10+ years of accounting experience, preferable in oil & gas or midstream.
- CPA designation considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (i.e., pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, etc.)
- Experience in Qbyte is considered a strong asset.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
