A Day in the Life
The Senior Supply Planning Manager – Neurosurgery plays a critical leadership role within Global Supply Planning, driving performance through people, process, and systems.This role is responsible for leading end-to-end supply planning across the portfolio, ensuring an optimal balance between product availability, inventory, and operational efficiency.
The role owns the supply plan across internal manufacturing sites and CM/OEM, leads IBP processes, and drives cross-functional alignment to support patient needs, business growth, and operational excellence in a highly regulated environment.
A Day in the Life:
End-to-End Supply Planning
Own supply planning across the global network (internal sites, CM/OEM, DCs)
Ensure alignment between supply plans, inventory strategy, and business priorities
Lead execution of MPS, MRP, and capacity planning
IBP (Integrated Business Planning)
Lead supply planning input into IBP processes, including Global Supply Review (monthly) and S&OE (weekly)
Drive scenario modeling and decision-making to address demand-supply imbalances
Identify risks, trade-offs, and opportunities, and escalate with clear recommendations
Ensure execution alignment to agreed plans and track performance versus commitments
Service & Inventory Performance
Own inventory outcomes including inventory coverage across (FG) finished goods, (WIP) work in Process, (RM) raw materials and excess/obsolete (E&O)
Own service outcomes including product availability, (OTIF) on time-in full, and back orders
Lead initiatives to improve service while optimizing inventory positioning
Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Management, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, and Commercial teams to align supply strategy
Interface with contract manufacturers and suppliers to monitor performance and mitigate supply risks
Support new product introductions (NPI), lifecycle changes, and PIPO transitions
Risk Management
Proactively identify supply risks (capacity, supplier, quality, regulatory, material shortages) and develop mitigation plans
Own and lead Tier 4 escalation, to ensure timely visibility, alignment, and resolution of supply risks
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing supply planning team to deliver strong business results and build organizational capability.
Ensure rigorous execution of supply planning processes, adherence to standard work, and accountability for key performance indicators and deliverables.
Foster a culture of ownership, urgency, collaboration, and enterprise thinking across the planning organization.
Partner with Centers of Excellence and cross-functional leaders to standardize processes and continuously enhance planning capabilities.
Drive optimization of planning systems, data quality, analytics, and continuous improvement initiatives to enable faster, more effective decision-making.
Must Have - Basic Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience and 5+ years in people leadership or an advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience with 5+ years of leadership experience.
Nice to Have:
Strong leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional stakeholders
Proven experience in supply chain planning and/or sourcing within a manufacturing or medical technology environment
APICS certification (CPIM / CSCP)
Lean / Six Sigma certification
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
