Contribute to Wellington Water’s transition programme to Tiaki Wai

Based in Petone, flexible working

This is a full time position of 40 hours per week, fixed term position for 12 months.

The salary range for this role is $108,644 to $153,379 inclusive of Kiwisaver, dependent on skills and experience.

The opportunity

You’ll provide senior business analysis support to enable the successful establishment and effective functioning of Tiaki Wai. E xperienced in enabling delivery of change, and translating complex business needs into clear, actionable solutions, you’ll shape the design of new processes, systems, and ways of working, ensuring our transition is smooth, sustainable, and embraced by our people.

As Senior Business Analyst you’ll require a strong combination of business analysis, change management, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement expertise, along with the ability to work across complex organisational and sector environments. You will:

Lead and perform end‑to‑end business analysis to ensure requirements are clear, prioritised and aligned to Tiaki Wai business priorities and outcomes

Develop solutions and process documentation in relation to the transition to Tiaki Wai, and establishing new business process

Ensure stakeholder needs are understood, represented, and managed throughout delivery

Lead prioritisation of requirements in partnership with business teams within agreed timeframes

Proactively lead change communications ensuring they are clearly articulated and easy for end users to utilise and understand

About you

To be successful in this role you will bring

Demonstrated experience as a Senior Business Analyst, ideally in large-scale transformation or business transition programmes.

Proven ability to to lead work across organisational structures and deal with ambiguity, effectively manage change, and handle risk

Relationship management experience in a complex business environment

Knowledge and experience with multiple solution delivery methodologies with an excellent working knowledge of business analysis frameworks and tools

Ideally an understanding of NZ public sector regulatory environment

About us

Wellington Water Ltd is the professional water services provider across Greater Wellington and South Wairarapa. Our job is to provide safe and healthy drinking water, collect and treat wastewater, and ensure the stormwater network is well managed. We’re a multi-council owned entity, tasked to manage the infrastructure and deliver water services to our communities. From 1 July 2026, a new chapter in water services begins. Tiaki Wai will take over responsibility for providing Three Waters Services to approximately 433,000 residents across the Wellington metro regions.

Tiaki Wai will own the water assets it operates giving it greater independence to manage and improve water services for current and future communities, Wellington Water employees will transition into this new council-owned entity.
