Mission

The Airport Innovation Coordinator will lead and deliver Vueling’s airport innovation strategy across the network. The role focuses on deploying digital and technology initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, and financial performance. This position owns multimillion-euro projects, manages key stakeholders (IT, Operations, vendors, executives), and drives measurable cost savings and improvements.

Tasks & responsibilities

Own and deliver a portfolio of multimillion-euro airport IT and innovation projects, with full accountability for scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and benefits realization

Define and execute the airport technology and innovation roadmap aligned with Vueling’s strategy and cost objectives

Lead end-to-end delivery of airport innovation initiatives (e.g., biometrics, automated boarding, Mobile DCS), ensuring operational, technical, commercial, and regulatory requirements are met

Drive efficiency improvements and cost savings through technology, standardization, and data-driven decision-making

Define delivery strategies, governance models, and execution plans, including prioritization and risk mitigation

Coordinate and influence cross-functional teams (IT, Operations, Customer, Commercial) to align priorities and execution

Manage strategic relationships with airport authorities, vendors, and partners, ensuring performance and scalability

Act as senior interface with internal and external stakeholders, representing Vueling in IAG and industry forums

Develop and present business cases, investment proposals, and ROI analyses to senior leadership and committees

Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, translating them into actionable initiatives

Ensure governance, compliance, and risk management across all projects

Support on-site rollouts, managing escalations and engaging key stakeholders

Academic background

Degree in Engineering, Transport, Airport Management, IT, or similar

Postgraduate studies in Digital Innovation, Operations, or Project Management are a plus

PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certifications valued

Experience

+7 years in airport operations, project management, or technology implementation

Proven experience delivering large-scale airport or digital projects

Strong stakeholder management across airlines, airports, vendors, and IT teams

Experience preparing business cases and executive-level presentations

Exposure to investment or governance committees

Experience in cost optimization and process improvement

Aviation experience preferred

Skills

Fluency in both English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required

Strong understanding of airport operations, regulations, and technology

Strategic thinking and problem solving

Strong influencing skills and cross-functional leadership

Project and program management excellence

Financial acumen and ROI mindset

Stakeholder management and negotiation

Ability to deliver results in complex and high-pressure environments
