Job description

A Powerful Partnership

St1 Biokraft is a joint venture between St1 and HitecVision, combining expertise and resources to drive innovation in the biomethane sector. Our goal is to become the leading integrated biomethane provider in the Nordics, playing a vital role in the energy transition. We cover the entire value chain – from feedstock sourcing to distribution and end-user sales – with a strong emphasis on heavy transport, maritime, and industrial sectors.

To support this ambitious growth, we are investing over EUR 1 billion in biomethane production and distribution infrastructure across the Nordics, with several large-scale projects already in progress.

Head of Engineering, St1 Biokraft, Stockholm or Malmö

Lead the engineering organisation delivering the next generation of biomethane assets. Build a high-performing multidisciplinary team where technical excellence meets execution. Shape how we design, develop and realise industrial projects in our growth and expansion journey.

We are entering a phase where engineering capability will be a critical success factor for our future growth.

Our project portfolio is expanding rapidly, with multiple production facilities under development and significant investments planned over the coming years. To succeed, we need an engineering organisation that can balance innovation with pragmatism, technical excellence with execution, and long-term optimisation with delivery.

We are now seeking a Head of Engineering to lead and develop our engineering function. This is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for a multidisciplinary team covering process and mechanical engineering, automation and technical project support. You will ensure that engineering resources are effectively allocated across ongoing operations and growth projects while creating the structure, leadership and decision-making needed for a growing organisation.

You will join an organisation with deep technical expertise. Your role will not be to be the smartest specialist in the room. Instead, you will create the conditions for others to succeed, make sound engineering decisions, and ensure that projects move forward in a structured and efficient way.

The role reports to the Head of Upstream Growth and can be based in Stockholm or Malmö.

About the Role

As Head of Engineering, you will lead a team of approximately 15 engineers and technical specialists supporting both operational assets and major capital projects.

You will be responsible for developing the function, strengthening leadership within the team, and ensuring engineering resources are aligned with business priorities.

A key aspect of the role is creating balance between technical optimisation and practical execution. Our engineers are highly skilled specialists, and your role will be to guide decision-making, prioritise effectively and ensure that engineering solutions create value not only in design, but throughout construction, operations and the entire asset lifecycle.

You will work closely with Project Management, Operations, Procurement and Asset Management, acting as a bridge between engineering excellence and industrial reality.

Success in this role requires strong leadership capabilities, a broad understanding of engineering, and experience in project-driven industrial environments.

We believe the successful candidate is

You are a pragmatic and inspiring leader who knows how to get the best out of highly skilled technical teams. You create trust, engagement and direction while enabling others to take ownership and grow. With a strong ability to navigate between strategic priorities and day-to-day realities, you make balanced decisions that support both project delivery and long-term business objectives.

You are comfortable operating in a dynamic environment where not every process is fully defined, and you bring the structure, judgement and leadership needed to create clarity and momentum. Above all, you understand how to balance technical ambition, operational realities and commercial considerations to drive sustainable results.
