Whoever you are and whatever your role is, with Luminor, you will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a local banking champion.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Core API Unit, you will design and build robust, scalable systems that power Luminor’s core platform. You will primarily work with Java 21, Spring Boot, Kafka, and cloud-native technologies, solving complex engineering challenges in event-driven and distributed architectures. This role is for someone who enjoys ownership, values clean design, and thrives in collaborative environments. You'll work in a dynamic Agile setup, ensuring high standards of scalability, performance, and reliability across all business streams.

How You Will Make an Impact

Design, implement, and continuously improve systems for messaging, service-to-service communication, APIs, file, and workflow management, supporting all business streams across Luminor

Build and evolve event-driven systems using Apache Kafka as a core backbone

Take ownership of solutions end-to-end — from design to production stability

Ensure high standards of quality, security, availability, and performance, applying engineering best practices

Drive technical discussions, contribute to architecture decisions, and challenge existing solutions where needed

Build Proof of Concepts to validate ideas and new technologies

Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to solve complex problems together

Troubleshoot production issues, perform testing, and continuously improve system reliability

Gain deep understanding of the bank’s processes and products

Be part of a cross-functional Agile team

Work in an international environment

What Makes You a Great Fit

Proven experience designing and building distributed, event-driven systems (Kafka or similar)

Hands-on experience with AWS cloud platform and container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker), as well as CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Argo CD)

Experience with modern microservices architecture and API design

Solid understanding of SQL databases; experience with NoSQL databases is a plus

Strong ownership mindset — you take responsibility for what you build

Ability and motivation to tackle challenging engineering problems

Team player who values collaboration and knowledge sharing
