Job description
Key Responsibilities
•
Plan, organise and supervise fire rated steel door production to meet targets, quality standards and delivery schedules.
•
Coordinate day-to-day workshop activities including cutting, welding, assembly, glazing, hardware fitting, painting and final inspection.
•
Allocate resources and prepare daily/weekly production schedules; monitor progress to ensure timely completion.
•
Ensure doors are manufactured and tested to required fire ratings and comply with standards, client specifications and company procedures.
•
Inspect incoming materials/components for compliance and raise non-conformance reports as needed.
•
Carry out quality control at key production stages and maintain accurate production and inspection records.
•
Supervise and train staff, promote safe working practices and conduct toolbox talks and on-the-job coaching.
•
Manage equipment, tooling and consumables; coordinate maintenance and report faults to minimise downtime.
•
Coordinate with engineering, quality, procurement and logistics to resolve issues and ensure drawings and materials are available.
•
Prepare daily and weekly production reports covering output, scrap, rework, manpower utilisation and schedule progress.
•
Drive continuous improvement to increase productivity, reduce waste and improve quality and consistency.
•
Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies and maintain a clean, organised workshop.
Technical Responsibilities
•
Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, shop drawings and technical specifications for fire rated steel doors, frames and hardware.
•
Apply knowledge of materials, welding, metal fabrication and surface preparation for fire rated door manufacture.
•
Understand fire testing requirements that impact certification.
•
Ensure correct installation and adjustment of door hardware, seals and ironmongery for performance and durability.
•
Support testing and commissioning, assist with sample builds and remedial actions to achieve required fire rating performance.
Minimum Requirements
•
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in manufacturing or production supervision, preferably in steel door, metal fabrication or related building products.
•
Experience in cutting, welding, assembly, finishing and quality inspection.
•
Working knowledge of fire rated door construction and certification requirements or willingness to learn applicable standards.
•
Ability to read technical drawings, bill of materials and production documentation.
•
Strong leadership, communication and team-management skills.
•
Practical problem-solving skills, attention to detail and commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
•
Competent in production reporting and record keeping; comfortable using digital tools for tracking output.
•
Valid UAE Driving Licence preferred.
•
Willingness to work additional hours and visit project sites or clients as required.
