Job description

You’ve spent years building modern web products – and quietly raising the bar for every engineer around you. You care about how things are built, not just whether they ship. And you’re ready for a role where your technical judgment shapes how an entire frontend organization works: across teams, across domains, end to end.

That’s this role.

As our Principal Frontend Engineer – a senior frontend leadership role reporting directly to our Chief Product & Engineering Officer – you help set the standard for frontend excellence at carVertical and make sure it holds as we grow.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not people management . You’ll contribute across our three product teams – around ten engineers building what our users touch – within a wider engineering organization of 40+ people, including strong data teams turning raw automotive data into something we can build on.

You lead through architecture, code, reviews, RFCs, and mentoring. You ensure frontend standards are not only defined, but actually adopted across teams. You shape platform and tooling investment, architectural direction, and frontend hiring calibration.

You will still write code – but your highest leverage comes from making other frontend engineers more effective and helping good frontend decisions compound across teams.

You’ll join a small, strong frontend group and make it better, not start from scratch.

What we do – and the hard part

Our mission is to perfect how the world buys, owns, and trades vehicles by leveraging the power of automotive data.

carVertical turns fragmented automotive data into vehicle history reports that people actually trust before spending thousands on a car. We pull from thousands of sources across 30+ markets – registries, insurers, mileage records, damage databases – each with its own formats, languages, gaps, and rules.

Making that data fast, accurate, and clear at the moment of a high-stakes decision is a genuinely hard problem.

The frontend is where all of that complexity has to become something users can understand in seconds.

If you want to

Evolve frontend architecture, standards, and best practices across multiple product domains

Lead complex, cross-domain implementations that individual teams cannot tackle alone

Raise the quality bar for the entire frontend team: code quality, performance, maintainability, and default patterns

Mentor senior engineers and help strong patterns actually get adopted in practice

Improve delivery speed with modern tooling, including AI, without compromising quality

Partner closely with product, design, QA, and backend teams to ship complete solutions

Ask sharp questions that prevent features from being built blindly

Influence technical decisions across teams and represent frontend in planning and prioritization

What we’re looking for

Deep, hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, and modern frontend architecture (Next.js is a plus)

Experience with platforms such as Vercel, Sanity, PostHog (or similar tooling)

Proven ability to design frontend architecture that scales across teams and survives long-term growth

Strong understanding of frontend performance, rendering, and trade-offs in high-scale products

Leadership through influence – raising standards without relying on formal authority

Strong product judgment, especially in complex or uncertain data-driven UI contexts

Sound judgment in using modern tooling, including AI, without degrading quality

Excellent communication and collaboration across disciplines

A consistently high engineering bar – both for yourself and others

What we offer

Authority to shape frontend architecture, standards, and execution across multiple teams

Direct collaboration with product and engineering leadership

A complex, high-impact product where frontend quality directly affects user trust

A modern frontend stack with room to influence its evolution

Hybrid work model (Vilnius and Kaunas offices available)

Professional growth: funded training, courses, and development programs

Additional paid vacation days + health insurance

Regular team-building events

Salary

6500-7900 eur/brutto We are open to negotiation – final offer depends on experience and competencies.
