The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

Based on Auckland’s North Shore, Kristin School is a premier independent, co-educational, non-denominational school that welcomes over 1,800 students from Early Learning to Year 13 and employs over 300 staff. Founded by parents over 50 years ago, our special character school is guided by deeply held values; Progress, Vision, Integrity and Love.

As ICT Implementation Team Lead, you'll be the driving force behind the deployment, integration, and optimisation of our educational and operational technologies. You'll balance hands-on technical execution with people leadership, supervising a small team of specialists, and proactive vendor and contractor management, to ensure all new systems, hardware, and software projects are seamlessly rolled out across the school environment.

Reporting to the Head of ICT, your team will work alongside the ICT Service Delivery team to provide the full ICT service for staff and students. This is a dynamic, collaborative role in a fast-paced school environment where you can directly impact the future of digital learning.

As a dynamic change agent, you will actively challenge current implementation paradigms, seeking out faster, more secure, and highly automated ways to deploy technology with minimal disruption to Teaching and Learning, and the school's support operations.

Responsibilities include

  • Lead, motivate, and mentor a dedicated technical team to deliver projects within agreed deadlines and deployment schedules
  • Manage external vendors and contractors to deliver within agreed scope and SLAs
  • Oversee the end-to-end implementation of new software, hardware, and cloud solutions
  • Govern all technology rollouts by guiding the team's priority and technical direction, while delegating day-to-day technical leadership to appropriate resources in the implementation team.
  • Act as a catalyst for modern deployment methodologies, continuously evaluating and refining our release schedule, system integrations, and automation opportunities to maximise progress
  • Manage system configurations and integrations across core platforms (including identity management, LMS, SMS, educational and business systems)
  • Maintain and improve implementation processes, technical documentation, and transition-to-service protocols
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure new technologies are effectively integrated into the classroom and administrative workflows
  • Ensure the school’s technology deployments are secure, scalable, reliable, and fit for purpose.

Important Skills | Nga Pūkenga Motuhake

  • Significant experience (3+ years) leading project-focussed high-performing technical teams, with a proven track record of coordinating internal engineering staff alongside external vendors to deliver complex infrastructure projects on schedule.
  • Strong technical expertise across all aspects of enterprise infrastructure, including networking, servers, virtualisation, cloud services, integration and automation platforms, and security
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, with a strong bias for action and a history of successfully navigating stakeholder management through organisational and technological change, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and resources
  • A calm, professional manner and excellent communication skills; comfortable translating complex technical rollouts to both experts and non-technical users
  • Experience with deployment tools and device management platforms (e.g., Intune, JAMF, or similar)
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to manage competing project deadlines and priorities
  • A genuine interest and willingness to engage in professional development and learning opportunities
  • Experience in an education or school environment is not essential
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, cloud architecture, or project/implementation methodologies) preferred.
