About the role

If you are an experienced perioperative nurse ready to take on a meaningful leadership role, this is your chance to make a real impact. Join Ormiston Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and play a key leadership role in our theatre services team. This is an exciting opportunity to combine advanced clinical practice, staff development and service innovation in a modern private hospital setting.

A major focus of this role is leading the continued growth and success of our cutting-edge robotic surgery service. Working closely with the Theatre Services Manager and multidisciplinary teams, you will help deliver safe, efficient and evidence-based care across a range of surgical specialties while shaping the future of perioperative excellence at Ormiston Hospital.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Leading the development and clinical integration of our robotic surgery program.
  • Coaching and mentoring nursing colleagues to enhance staff capability and foster a culture of continuous learning.
  • Driving quality improvement initiatives and collaborating with specialists to develop advanced clinical pathways and protocols.
  • Partnering with leadership to optimise theatre resources and maintain exceptional standards of patient care.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a passionate senior perioperative nurse who thrives on clinical excellence, collaborative relationship-building and leadership.

What you will bring

  • Current registration and a valid New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
  • A valid New Zealand work visa or permanent residency/citizenship.
  • At least 5 years of recent post-graduate experience within a surgical hospital environment, backed by advanced perioperative clinical knowledge.
  • Experience with robotic surgery across a range of specialties.
  • Proven skills in coaching, mentoring and building trusted working relationships with specialists and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A post-graduate certificate in clinical nursing practice (or be working towards one).
  • Expert-level PDRP, or the ability to attain this.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a strong commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.
