Full-Time Permanent Early Childhood Educators

The Dryden Native Friendship Centre is seeking a dedicated and organized Kitchen Manager to join our Homeward Bound Daycare team. This role plays an important part in supporting the health and well-being of children by ensuring the delivery of nutritious, safe, and culturally mindful meals and snacks in a childcare setting. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the daycare kitchen, including meal planning, food preparation, ordering and inventory, sanitation, and compliance with all food safety and childcare nutrition standards. This position ensures that children receive healthy meals in a safe and welcoming environment.

POSITION DETAILS

  • Schedule: 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday – Friday
  • Status: Regular Full-Time
  • Compensation: $47,500 per year
  • Benefits: Group retirement plan, 100% employer paid benefit premiums, and paid time off

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO

  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children in care
  • Develop weekly menus aligned with Canada’s Food Guide and dietary needs
  • Manage food ordering, inventory, and kitchen supplies
  • Maintain accurate records including food safety logs and inventory tracking
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and daycare licensing standards
  • Oversee cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen and food storage areas
  • Monitor and support food-related budgeting and cost control
  • Work collaboratively with daycare staff and leadership team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred:
  • Experience working in a childcare or daycare setting
  • Experience with menu planning aligned with Canada’s Food Guide
  • Experience in inventory management and basic food budgeting
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and logs
  • Required:
  • Experience in food preparation, institutional cooking, or childcare kitchen environments
  • Valid Food Handler Certification
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and allergen management
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage kitchen operations effectively
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Assets:
  • Experience working in Indigenous community settings
  • Familiarity with culturally relevant food preparation and programming
  • Additional training in nutrition, food service, or culinary arts
  • WHMIS certification or other workplace safety training

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Classroom and outdoor settings
  • Occasional offsite activities
