Position Summary

As a Senior Pension Analyst, you will be a key member of an administration team that delivers high-quality pension administration services to multiple clients while ensuring outstanding and timely customer service. You will handle highly confidential and sensitive information, requiring a high level of professionalism and organization. A Senior Pension Analyst must have excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.

This is a full-time, on-site position based in our Winnipeg office.

Key Responsibilities

Pension Administration

  • Provide expert assistance and collaborate with the pension administration team to ensure accurate and timely service delivery.
  • Process pension events, including retirement, termination of employment, death, relationship breakdown, etc., with precision and adherence to plan rules and regulations.
  • Accurately maintain and regularly update client databases to reflect current and accurate data.
  • Mentor and develop pension analysts by providing guidance, training, and support to help them build their knowledge and skills in pension administration.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews of work performed by the pension administration team to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Perform quality control on year-end data input and verification of program output, including the preparation of Annual Benefit Statements.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Calculate and process pension adjustments (PA), pension adjustment reversals (PAR), and past service pension adjustments (PSPA).
  • File the Annual Information Return (AIR) and other required regulatory forms with the appropriate legislative bodies in a timely manner.
  • Interpret and apply the provisions of pension plans and relevant provincial and federal legislation to ensure compliance and provide accurate guidance.

Client Support

  • Respond to inquiries from clients and plan members regarding data and pension administration, providing clear and accurate information.
  • Develop and present solutions and improved processes for various pension plan issues to consultants and internal partners.

Project Management

  • Coordinate new business implementation with account management and implementation teams, ensuring seamless transitions and accurate setup.
  • Contribute to team efforts by completing additional administrative tasks or projects as needed.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the pension administration function and recommend or implement changes to enhance efficiency and service quality.
  • And any other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, and abide by our Organization’s Values.

Qualifications and Attributes

Experience & Education

  • Minimum seven (7) years of relevant work experience in the pension field.
  • Coursework toward the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation is highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex pension-related data and legislation.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Preference will be given to those individuals who are proficient in French.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and completeness in all aspects of pension administration.
