Entry Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a care or healthcare setting is required.
- A relevant qualification in Health and Social Care (NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3, or equivalent experience) is preferred.
- Hold a current or be willing to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience is desirable but not essential.
- A valid UK driving licence is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and support a team of care assistants in delivering person-centred care in line with individual care and support plans.
- Act as a first point of contact for care staff during shifts, providing guidance and resolving concerns promptly.
- Conduct regular reviews and contribute to the development and updating of Clients' care and support plans in collaboration with the Field Care Supervisor.
- Carry out and oversee all personal care tasks, including assisting Clients with dressing, undressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Perform and supervise basic clinical tasks such as monitoring temperature, pulse, weight, and other health indicators, escalating concerns to the appropriate health professionals as needed.
- Assist and coordinate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Attend and actively contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and team briefings.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of food and drink for Clients, ensuring nutritional, cultural, and personal preferences are consistently respected.
- Supervise and support the safe use of equipment when moving and handling patients.
- Ensure the living environment is maintained safely and comfortably for all Clients, while respecting their rights and personal choices.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to Clients, engaging meaningfully in conversation and activities aligned with their interests.
- Help Clients maintain and strengthen relationships with family and friends, and accompany them on community outings where required.
- Assist Clients in managing personal affairs and administrative matters as directed in their care plan.
- Uphold and enforce strict confidentiality of all Client information, ensuring all team members adhere to data protection policies.
- Support the onboarding and on-the-job training of new care assistants, promoting best practice and a positive team culture.
- Produce accurate and timely handover notes and shift reports for management review.
