ABOUT THE ROLE
Achieving Zamara’s ambitious strategic priorities will be complex and challenging. Its continued success will be dependent on building and retaining a world-class team.
We are looking for an Investment Analyst to join our actuarial consulting team.
The Investment Analyst is the production backbone of the Asset Consulting team. You will be responsible for preparing investment reports across a portfolio of pension fund clients, managing data flows from fund managers and scheme administrators, and supporting senior consultants in delivering high-quality advice to Kenya's largest institutional investors.
This role is designed for someone who has had their first taste of financial services and is ready to deepen their craft. You will be mentored by experienced investment consultants and given a clear pathway to a Senior Analyst role. Intellectual curiosity, precision, and a willingness to embrace AI-driven tools will set you apart.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Report Production & Data Management
- Prepare quarterly and monthly investment reports for assigned pension fund clients, using data sourced from fund managers and scheme administrators
- Collect, validate, and organize investment data — asset allocation, performance returns, cash flows, and transaction-level details
- Conduct data quality checks and flag discrepancies to the supervising analyst or manager
- Support the integration of AI tools (including Claude and other platforms) into the report production workflow — data input, output validation, and quality control
- Maintain accurate and well-organized client files, data trackers, and report archives
Fund Manager & Stakeholder Liaison
- Liaise with fund managers and scheme administrators to obtain required data and resolve queries
- Prepare meeting packs and supporting materials for Investment Committee and Board of Trustee meetings
- Attend client meetings with senior team members and progressively contribute to discussions
Research & Industry Contribution
- Conduct macroeconomic and capital market research to support client reports and industry publications
- Contribute to the team's quarterly industry reports and thought leadership content
- Monitor regulatory developments relevant to Kenyan pension funds (RBA, IRA, CMA)
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline — minimum Upper Second Class (2:1) or equivalent
- 1–2 years of experience in investment analysis, asset management, actuarial consulting, banking, or a related financial services role
- Pursuing or intending to pursue CFA, ICIFA, or a relevant professional qualification — this is strongly encouraged and supported
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Exposure to or genuine interest in AI productivity tools, data automation, or dashboarding is a strong advantage
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Exceptional attention to detail — accuracy in data and client outputs is non-negotiable
- Strong numerical and analytical ability with comfort interpreting investment data
- Organized and dependable — able to manage multiple client deliverables to tight deadlines
- Proactive learner with genuine intellectual curiosity about investments and financial markets
- Clear communicator who takes initiative and escalates issues appropriately
- Growth mindset — you are not just looking for a job, you are building a career in investment consulting
