We’re seeking veterinarians at all stages of their careers to join our OV Talent Pool for future opportunities. Whether you’re:

  • An experienced OV (current qualification)
  • An RCVS-registered vet looking to gain OV certification
  • Or an international graduate from an RCVS-recognised university with strong English proficiency (IELTS 7.0 / OET grade B)

Role Overview

As an OV in meat establishments, you will

  • Conduct ante- and post-mortem inspections to verify animal welfare and food safety compliance.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with FSA and legal standards .
  • Lead and support inspection teams, ensuring consistent delivery of official controls.
  • Build productive relationships with Food Business Operators (FBOs) and stakeholders.

Full responsibilities follow the FSA Manual for Official Controls (MOC) , ensuring compliance, safety, and professional leadership at every stage of the meat production process.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

  • Veterinary degree (BSc/MSc) and RCVS registration or eligibility
  • English proficiency – IELTS 7.0 or OET grade B

Preferred

  • OV-qualified or experience in meat hygiene/animal welfare
  • Strong communication, leadership, and attention to detail
  • Flexibility and full UK driving licence
