Summary of the role
The Electrical Site Engineer is responsible for supervising, executing, and monitoring all electrical works at the project site. This role ensures that all activities comply with project specifications, safety rules, quality standards, and relevant electrical codes. The engineer coordinates with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and supervise installation of electrical systems (LV/MV/HV as applicable).
- Ensure all works are completed as per approved drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
- Conduct site inspections to verify progress and compliance.
- Manage subcontractors and resolve technical issues on-site.
- Review electrical drawings, schematics, and shop drawings.
- Perform load calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection (as required).
- Prepare material requisitions and verify materials delivered to site.
- Assist in testing & commissioning of electrical systems.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and other engineering teams to avoid clashes.
- Attend site meetings and provide progress updates.
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and suppliers on technical matters.
- Enforce site safety rules and electrical safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with local electrical codes and company QHSE policies.
- Conduct inspections and prepare QA/QC documentation (ITPs, checklists, reports).
- Prepare daily/weekly progress reports.
- Maintain documentation related to site activities, tests, and inspections.
- Prepare as-built drawings in coordination with drafting teams.
- Attend site meetings with contractors, consultants, and client representatives.
- Ensure availability of materials, tools, and equipment for work progress.
- Coordinate with procurement teams for timely delivery of mechanical items.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution of mechanical works.
- Support BIM coordination by aligning site execution with approved models to reduce clashes, rework, and delays.
- Communicate technical issues or delays to the project manager
- Stay informed on the latest trends, materials and technology in the industry to keep our projects at the forefront of innovation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years of experience as Site or Project Electrical Engineer within engineering, consultancy, or construction firms.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of electrical installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Proficiency in softwares such as AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and MS Office.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant international codes (IEC, NEC, BS, local regulations) and standards.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and technical excellence.
- Strong understanding of project workflows, timelines, and coordination across all project phases.
- Excellent in speaking Arabic and English languages.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
